ASSISTANT (hermes, deepseek-v4-flash)
Trade 2's full picture is now clear. Let me grab trade 1's exit line (the loose end from last session — "the SELL limit (bid...") and the buffer constant:
Both trades are now fully reconstructed from broker trade book. Here's where the last conversation lands.
The loose end — the SELL-limit question:
- The exit is a LIMIT order at 3% below the bid (bot.py:1238): trade 1 SELL @ 725.6 (bid 748.05), trade 2 SELL @ 809.1 (bid 834.15). Since the limit sits below the bid it's effectively marketable — it filled at the bid or better both times.
And then today gave us a control experiment, which settles the 60-second debate:
1. TRADE 1 (57800 CE): BUY fill 835.0 → SL detected 10:27:24 at -2637 → SELL filled 751.1 → realized -2517. Overshoot over the ₹1500 SL: ₹1017. Cause: 100-point waterfall inside one poll gap (10:26:24 poll = no action, 10:27:24 poll = -2637; the 10:25-10:30 candle low was 731).
2. TRADE 2 (57700 CE): BUY fill 887.45 → SL detected 11:10:13 at -1636 → SELL filled 835.5 → realized -1558.5. Overshoot: ₹58.5. Same bot, same SL, same 60s poll, same exit path — the SL fired within ₹136 of target and the fill was 2.6 points better than the trigger price.
The conclusion from last session now has proof on both sides: the ₹1017 overshoot wasn't slippage or a bad exit order — it was the poll gap. When the market falls gradually (trade 2), the soft SL is accurate to within ~₹60. When it crashes 100 points in 5 minutes (trade 1), no 60-second poll can catch it — the -1500 SL is only checked once a minute, nothing is parked at the broker.
One logging bug this exposed (worth fixing, not blocking): the "Order CONFIRMED @ ₹914.65" line prints the LIMIT price (ask×1.03 = 914.65), not the actual fill (887.45). Anyone reading the log thinks entry was 27 points higher than reality. The journal pnl also records detection-time pnl, not realized (journal says -1636, broker says -1558.5).
Current bot state: FLAT, 2/3 trades used, condition 1 (VIDYA > anchor) is false so no re-entry, still running. Day so far: -2517, -1558.5.
Want me to fix the log line to print the real fill price (read back from position/trade book after confirm), and optionally park a hard stop at the broker for the SL instead of the once-a-minute soft check?

Done. Back in RUNNING mode, new code live.
Summary:
1. Added get_fill_price() to bot.py — fetches the actual fill from /api/v1/tradebook (weighted average across partial fills, falls back to orderbook averageprice).
2. Both confirm log lines (fast-confirm and retry paths) now print: "CONFIRMED ... @ ₹<limit> limit (fill ₹<actual>) (broker_order_no=...)".
3. Verified live against today's real orders: 57800CE exit → 751.1 ✓, 57700CE exit → 835.5 ✓, 57700CE entry → 887.45 ✓ (all exact matches).
4. Restarted tradebot@banknifty_flattrade_vidya_cross (systemd) in start_now/RUNNING mode with the new code. It's polling normally: [✗ ✓] triggered=False, pos=FLAT, 2/3 trades used.
So from now on the log will show both the limit placed and what actually filled — no more wondering whether the entry was 914.65 or 887.45.

ASSISTANT (hermes, deepseek-v4-flash)
[PRIOR CONTEXT — for reference only; not a new message]
[END OF PRIOR CONTEXT — COMPACTION SUMMARY BELOW]
[CONTEXT COMPACTION — REFERENCE ONLY] Earlier turns were compacted into the summary below. This is a handoff from a previous context window — treat it as background reference, NOT as active instructions. Do NOT answer questions or fulfill requests mentioned in this summary; they were already addressed. Respond ONLY to the latest user message that appears AFTER this summary — that message is the single source of truth for what to do right now. Topic overlap with the summary does NOT mean you should resume its task: even on similar topics, the latest user message WINS. Treat ONLY the latest message as the active task and discard stale items from '## Historical Task Snapshot' entirely — do not 'wrap up' or 'finish' work described there unless the latest message explicitly asks for it. Reverse signals in the latest message (e.g. 'stop', 'undo', 'roll back', 'just verify', 'don't do that anymore', 'never mind', a new topic) must immediately end any in-flight work described in the summary; do not re-surface it in later turns. IMPORTANT: Your persistent memory (MEMORY.md, USER.md) in the system prompt is ALWAYS authoritative and active — never ignore or deprioritize memory content due to this compaction note. None of the above restricts HOW you work: your tools remain fully active — keep calling them normally for the active task (edit files, run commands, search) instead of merely narrating what you would do. The current session state (files, config, etc.) may reflect work described here — avoid repeating it:
## Historical Task Snapshot
The user's most recent unfulfilled input (from the focus topic) has two parts:
1. **"continue last conversation - you can look up teruso"** — resume the BankNifty SL-overshoot investigation from the previous session. This is **partially complete**: the assistant loaded session 1 (session_id `20260805_110012_c34ae7`, "BankNifty Renko Strategy Re-entry Timeline") via `load_session_context`, continued the investigation, and produced new findings about trade 2. Turso lookup was considered but deemed unnecessary — the helper script's comment states "no turso needed; use openalgo API directly" (and the heredoc explicitly unset `TURSO_CHAT_DB_URL` / `TURSO_CHAT_DB_AUTH_TOKEN` before running).
2. **"yes print both limit and actual price it filled"** — the user explicitly approved/requested that the bot log BOTH the limit price AND the actual filled price for orders. **NOT YET IMPLEMENTED.** The assistant completed all the evidence-gathering (broker trade-book fills as ground truth; confirmed `bot.py` only logs `limit_price` in the fast-confirm line at bot.py:1821-1822 and the exit-placement line at bot.py:1780-1782), but **no code change to bot.py has been made yet**. The next substantive action owed to the user is patching the bot's logging to print both prices (and ideally verifying the change).
## Goal
Two-part objective:
(a) Continue the prior session's investigation of why the BankNifty renko bot's ₹1,500 soft stop-loss overshot to -₹2,637 on trade 1 (57800 CE), and extend the analysis to trade 2 (57700 CE) which closed later the same day with SL detected at -₹1,636 and realized -₹1,558.5.
(b) Implement the user's request to print both the limit price and the actual filled price in the bot's order logs, reconciling the discrepancies found between logged prices and broker fills.
## Constraints & Preferences
- User demands proof from real data (broker candles, trade book, logs) and pushes back on unsupported claims — e.g., "tell me you keep rsnting bout 60 sec - check logs wha price did between 1500 and 2500 - you telling me this gap happened in 60 secs - i dont think so". Evidence must be shown, not asserted.
- User explicitly wants both limit price and actual fill price printed in logs (approved request).
- Timestamp discipline: a prior mistake double-shifted the +5.5h IST conversion ("My +5.5h conversion double-shifted") — IST conversions must be re-checked carefully.
- Strategy is YAML-config-driven; the legacy sma/vidya crossover fields are dead — the multi-condition block drives entries (log confirms "Multi-condition ENTRY" / "Multi-condition composite true").
- Broker for this bot: Flattrade (NFO options, product NRML, pricetype LIMIT). Chart API local endpoint 127.0.0.1:5050.
## Completed Actions
1. LOAD session 1 context (`load_session_context session=1`, id `20260805_110012_c34ae7`) — retrieved full digest of the BankNifty SL-overshoot investigation including strategy spec, trade-1 timeline, and the 60-second poll-gap analysis [tool: load_session_context]
2. CHECK environment — `date`: 2026-08-05 11:30:35 IST (Wednesday); listed `~/bots/*` and found target log `/home/ubuntu/bots/tradebot/logs/tradebot_banknifty_flattrade_vidya_cross.log` and state files under `/home/ubuntu/bots/tradebot/state/` [tool: terminal]
3. TAIL target log (11:02–11:30) — bot held BUY 57700 CE with both conditions true (`MULTI POLL [✓ ✓]`, "Already holding BUY_CE — no action") 11:02–11:09; at **11:10:13** `🛑 STOP-LOSS HIT: pnl=₹-1636 <= -sl=₹1500 — exiting BUY_CE`; 11:10:13 SELL exit 57700 CE placed @ ₹809.1 (bid=834.15); 11:10:19 `✅ Order CONFIRMED by broker (5s fast-confirm): SELL 30 BANKNIFTY25AUG2657700CE @ ₹809.1 (broker_order_no=26080500149512)`; after that FLAT with `[✗ ✓]` (condition 1 false) every poll through 11:30 [tool: terminal]
4. READ state files — `trade_count_banknifty_flattrade_vidya_cross.json` = `{"fired": 2}`; `trades_banknifty_flattrade_vidya_cross.jsonl` tail shows: 10:27:24 EXIT_SL (57800 CE, pnl=-2637); 10:27:31 EXIT_CONFIRMED SELL 30 BANKNIFTY25AUG2657800CE order 26080500098591; 10:50:53 ENTRY (57700 CE); 11:10:13 EXIT_SL (pnl=-1636.5); 11:10:19 EXIT_CONFIRMED SELL 30 BANKNIFTY25AUG2657700CE order 26080500149512 [tool: terminal]
5. CHECK processes — bot running: `ubuntu 1317937 ... /usr/bin/python3 /home/ubuntu/bots/tradebot/bot.py --symbol banknifty_flattrade_vidya_cross` (started 09:32); also `bot.py --symbol indigo_flattrade` (PID 1019205) and `dashboard.py --port 5201` (PID 1085588) running since Aug04 [tool: terminal]
6. GREP log 10:45–11:19 (non-poll lines) — trade 2 entry: **10:50:47** `Multi-condition ENTRY BUY_CE — composite conditions true`; **10:50:53** `✅ Order CONFIRMED by broker (5s fast-confirm): BUY 30 BANKNIFTY25AUG2657700CE @ ₹914.65 (broker_order_no=26080500125748)`; `TRADE COUNT: 2/3` [tool: terminal]
7. CALL `mcp__flattrade__get_position_book` — realized pnl from broker: INDIGO25AUG265300PE **-7875.0**, BANKNIFTY25AUG2657800CE **-2517.0**, BANKNIFTY25AUG2657700CE **-1558.5** (all qty 0, closed); open futures: ASIANPAINT +1674.78, BANKBARODA +640.0, BEL -540.0, BIOCON +14058.0 [tool: mcp__flattrade__get_position_book]
8. CALL `mcp__flattrade__get_trade_book` — actual broker fills (see Critical Context for full table) — **this is the ground-truth data for the limit-vs-fill comparison** [tool: mcp__flattrade__get_trade_book]
9. SEARCH bot.py:1817-1824 — FAST PATH fast-confirm logging: `self.log.info(f"✅ Order CONFIRMED by broker ({FAST_CONFIRM_SECONDS}s fast-confirm): {action} {qty} {opt_sym} @ ₹{limit_price} (broker_order_no={order_id})")` — **confirms only limit_price is logged, never the actual fill** [tool: search_files]
10. SEARCH bot.py:2229-2235 — SL soft check: `if self.sl_inr > 0 and pnl <= -self.sl_inr:` → logs `🛑 STOP-LOSS HIT: pnl=₹{pnl:.0f} <= -sl=₹{self.sl_inr:.0f}` and journals EXIT_SL — confirms SL is a per-poll (60s) soft check, not broker-side [tool: search_files]
11. SEARCH bot.py:1773-1782 — exit order payload uses `"pricetype": "LIMIT"`, `"price": str(limit_price)`; log line: `f"📋 Placing {action} exit: {symbol} qty={qty} @ ₹{limit_price} ({'bid=' + str(best_bid) if action == 'SELL' else 'ask=' + str(best_ask)})"` [tool: search_files]
12. SEARCH bot.py:1229-1242 — limit price computation: BUY → `snap_up(ask * (1 + LIMIT_BUFFER_PCT / 100))` (elif `ltp`); SELL → `snap_down(bid * (1 - LIMIT_BUFFER_PCT / 100))` (elif `ltp`); both zero → return None (skip). Also found futures use a tighter 0.1% buffer (bot.py:1286) vs options' `LIMIT_BUFFER_PCT`; constant imported at bot.py:48 [tool: search_files]
13. GREP trade-1 exit lines (10:2x) — **10:27:25** `📋 Placing SELL exit: BANKNIFTY25AUG2657800CE qty=30 @ ₹725.6 (bid=748.05)`; **10:27:31** `✅ Order CONFIRMED ... SELL 30 ... @ ₹725.6 (broker_order_no=26080500098591)` — but the broker trade book shows the actual fill was **751.1**, i.e., 25.5 points better than the logged limit [tool: terminal]
## Active State
- Working directory: `/home/ubuntu/bots/tradebot` (no git branch info gathered).
- **No files modified in this session** — investigation only so far.
- Bot process running: PID 1317937, `bot.py --symbol banknifty_flattrade_vidya_cross` (started 09:32). Currently **FLAT**, `{"fired": 2}` of max 3 trades/day; entry condition 1 (VIDYA > anchor) is currently false (`[✗ ✓]`), so no new entry unless it re-crosses; entry cutoff 15:20.
- Trade 2 closed: entry 57700 CE, exit 11:10:19; realized -₹1,558.5.
- The loose end from the prior session (the "SELL limit (bid..." detail that was cut off) has now been resolved: trade 1's exit was a LIMIT sell @ ₹725.6 (snapped below the bid of 748.05), which filled at 751.1.
## Blocked
- `mcp__flattrade__get_open_position` call failed — tool error: "tool_call to 'mcp__flattrade__get_open_position' is missing required argument(s): exchange, product. The tool was NOT invoked." (schema requires `symbol`, `exchange`, `product`, `strategy`). Worked around by using `get_position_book` instead; could retry with `exchange=NFO`, `product=NRML` if needed.
- **Pending user request not yet implemented**: bot.py logging still prints only the limit price (bot.py:1780-1782 and 1821-1822); the change to also print actual filled price has not been made.
- An attempted Python heredoc to locate openalgo `.env` (for broker API config) produced no useful output (only argparse lines from `~/scripts/toggle_mcp.py`); the command was auto-approved by smart approval.
## Key Decisions
- **Use the broker trade book as ground truth for actual fill prices** — the bot log does not record fills, only `limit_price` (verified at bot.py:1821-1822), so any log-vs-fill discrepancy must be resolved via `mcp__flattrade__get_trade_book`.
- **Root cause of the log-vs-fill price gaps**: the fast-confirm log interpolates `limit_price` (not the fill), and SELL limits are computed as `snap_down(bid * (1 - LIMIT_BUFFER_PCT/100))` — deliberately below the bid — so fills can (and did) land well above the logged limit when the bid moved up between placement and fill. Same logic in reverse for BUY (limit above ask, fills can land below).
- **Root cause of trade-1's SL overshoot (from prior session, confirmed)**: the ₹1,500 SL is a soft, once-per-60s-poll check (bot.py:2229-2230); nothing parked at the broker. The 10:25-10:30 candle opened 827, low 731 (~100-pt crash in 5 min); polls at 10:26:24 ("no action", pnl > -1500) and 10:27:24 (SL hit at -2637) bracket the waterfall — the 785→747 portion (₹1,137 overshoot) landed inside the 60.5-second poll gap.
- **Trade 2's SL was essentially clean** — detected at -₹1,636, realized -₹1,558.5 (only ₹58 over the -₹1,500 target).
- **Turso not needed** for context lookup — the prior-session digest sufficed ("no turso needed; use openalgo API directly").
## Resolved Questions
- *"Was the ₹1,500→₹2,500+ gap really inside 60 seconds?"* — Yes, proven with Flattrade's own 5-min candle data for the 57800 CE: 10:20 close 831.45; 10:25-10:30 candle OPEN 827 / LOW 731 / CLOSE 746.15; 10:30 close 747.35 (L 700); recovery to 815 by 10:45. SL trigger level = premium 785 (835 − 50 pts); SL detected level = ~747.1 (835 − 87.9). The 10:26:24 poll caught the price just before the waterfall; the 10:27:24 poll caught the bottom.
- *Trade 1 realized P&L*: BUY 57800 CE @ 835.0, SELL @ 751.1 → 30 × (835.0 − 751.1) = **-₹2,517**.
- *Trade 2 realized P&L*: BUY 57700 CE @ 887.45, SELL @ 835.5 → 30 × (887.45 − 835.5) = **-₹1,558.5** (broker-confirmed).

Key lines: 48 (LIMIT_BUFFER_PCT import), 1229-1242 (option limit-price calc, BUY snap_up ask/ltp +buffer, SELL snap_down bid/ltp −buffer), 1286 (futures 0.1% buffer comment), 1773-1782 (exit payload + "Placing {action} exit ... @ ₹{limit_price} (bid=...)" log), 1817-1824 (fast-confirm log with only limit_price), 2229-2235 (soft SL check + EXIT_SL journal).
- `/home/ubuntu/bots/tradebot/logs/tradebot_banknifty_flattrade_vidya_cross.log` — today's live log (poll lines every ~60s; entries, exits, SLs).
- `/home/ubuntu/bots/tradebot/state/trades_banknifty_flattrade_vidya_cross.jsonl` — trade journal (EXIT_SL / EXIT_CONFIRMED / ENTRY events with pnl_inr, sl_inr, order_id).
- `/home/ubuntu/bots/tradebot/state/trade_count_banknifty_flattrade_vidya_cross.json` — `{"fired": 2}`.
- (Read-only context, not a file) past session digest `20260805_110012_c34ae7` with daily chart state and strategy spec.
## Critical Context
**Strategy spec (BankNifty, from session 1):** daily Renko(2) on NSE_INDEX, Flattrade, ITM1 CE, qty 30. Entry (AND): VIDYA crosses above anchor AND VIDYA crosses above 3-candle value → BUY CE ITM1. Exit (exit_priority sltp, TP=0): SL ₹1,500 loss OR condition flips — whichever first. start_mode: wait_crossover; entry_cutoff 15:20; max_trades 3/day; conditions block drives entry (legacy sma/vidya fields dead).
**Broker trade book — actual fills vs bot log (THE core of the "print both prices" request):**
| Trade | Side | Symbol | Logged limit price | Actual fill (trade book) | Order ID | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| T1 | BUY | BANKNIFTY25AUG2657800CE | ₹835.0 | **₹835.0** (match) | 26080500036879 | 09:34:30 |
| T1 | SELL | BANKNIFTY25AUG2657800CE | ₹725.6 (bid=748.05) | **₹751.1** (+25.5 better) | 26080500098591 | 10:27:25 |
| T2 | BUY | BANKNIFTY25AUG2657700CE | ₹914.65 | **₹887.45** (−27.2 better) | 26080500125748 | 10:50:48 |
| T2 | SELL | BANKNIFTY25AUG2657700CE | ₹809.1 (bid=834.15) | **₹835.5** (+26.4 better) | 26080500149512 | 11:10:14 |
| — | SELL | INDIGO25AUG265300PE (150 qty) | — | ₹61.5 | 26080500013768 | 09:18:49 |
Implication to convey to the user: the logged "fill" prices are only LIMIT prices; actual fills are consistently 25-27 points better, which also means reported "P&L at SL detection" understates what was recoverable. To honor "print both limit and actual price it filled", the change should capture the fill from the confirm/order-status path (or trade book) and add it to the log lines at bot.py:1780-1782 and 1821-1822.
**Realized P&L (position book, closed):** 57800 CE **-₹2,517**; 57700 CE **-₹1,558.5**; INDIGO 5300 PE **-₹7,875**. Order of magnitude: 30 qty × tick movement.
**Poll log bracket for T1:** 10:26:24 poll "no action" (pnl > -1500) → 10:27:24 poll SL hit (-2637). T2 bracket: 11:09:12 poll holding (both conditions ✓) → 11:10:13 SL hit (-1636).
**Credentials:** No API keys, tokens, passwords, or connection strings appeared in any tool result in this session (the attempted `.env` lookup returned nothing); none are preserved here — any future access to openalgo/Flattrade config would need to be handled as [REDACTED].

The dashboard writes `/tmp/tradebot-mode-<name>` then starts the service; the bot reads it at boot. Let me check the current mode file and how bot.py consumes it:

So from now on the log will show both the limit placed and what actually filled — no more wondering whether the entry was 914.65 or 887.45.

why are you doing the calculation - the points are plotted on chart from chart api - why you have to do the calculation again - these datapoints are readily availaible in chart api ??
2026-08-05 11:44
ASSISTANT (hermes, deepseek-v4-flash)
You're right — all three series are already computed and served by the chart API. I went and rebuilt bricks locally when the answer was sitting in the API responses I'd already pulled. Using those directly:
1. VIDYA (daily) — /api/indicators/BANKNIFTY?interval=D&source=renko: 57760.02, price 57720
2. LIPI anchor — /api/daily-vidya/BANKNIFTY: last COMPLETED day (08-04) = 57859.89 — this is the value the bot compares against (it deliberately takes valid[-2], the last completed day, not today's live row)
3. 3-candle value — /api/3candle-analysis/BANKNIFTY: weighted_value 57711.55, bias BEARISH
Do they change massively? No — they're daily-frequency, unlike intraday RSI:
1. LIPI anchor: one value per day, fixed all day. Yesterday 57859.89, day before 58199.99. Moves a few hundred points per day (like price does), but intraday it does not move.
2. 3-candle value: computed from last 3 COMPLETED days only — changes once per day, never intraday.
3. VIDYA daily: the only one that moves intraday, and it moves smoothly with price (this morning ~57850-57950, after the 10:25 dip ~57730-57890). No 0/100 whipsaw like renko RSI on runs — it stays within a couple hundred points of price all day.
And that maps exactly to the bot's current [✗ ✓]: condition 1 VIDYA 57760 > anchor 57859.89 = false, condition 2 VIDYA 57760 > 3candle 57711.55 = true. Nothing massive is changing intraday — the daily inputs are stable, the SL overshoot was purely the intraday price crash inside the 60s poll gap.

ASSISTANT (hermes, deepseek-v4-flash)
Yes — verified from the bot log (which polls the chart API every 60s). The VIDYA crossover happened twice today, and it also crossed back down twice:
1. 09:34:29 — VIDYA crossed ABOVE anchor → condition 1 flips [✗✓]→[✓✓] → BUY 57800 CE
2. 10:27:24 — SL hit (-2637), exit. State flips back [✗✓] at 10:30
3. 10:50:47 — VIDYA crossed ABOVE anchor AGAIN → BUY 57700 CE
4. 11:10:13 — SL hit (-1636), exit. State flips back [✗✓] at 11:10
So 4 crossings today, 2 of them up-crossovers (the ones the bot trades). Your observation is exactly right.
Why it happens even though BN is under pressure:
1. The anchor (LIPI) is FIXED all day — 57859.89 (yesterday's 08-04 value). It does not move.
2. Today's daily VIDYA is computed on renko bricks that include today's partial candles, so it moves with the intraday bounce. When BN recovered off the 10:25 low (~57400) back to 57800-57900 around 10:45-10:55, the 20-brick VIDYA average crossed back above yesterday's fixed anchor.
3. Look how marginal the second cross was: at 10:45 VIDYA was 57860.17 vs anchor 57859.89 — 0.28 points above. The signal is hugging the anchor, not decisively above it. On a pressure day, VIDYA oscillates around the fixed anchor line and keeps flickering across it.
Bottom line: the daily inputs aren't changing massively (previous question), but they ARE crossing repeatedly — because today VIDYA sits within a razor-thin band around the stale fixed anchor. Both up-crosses were traded, both stopped out. That's not a "daily trend turn" signal today — it's a knife-edge average brushing against yesterday's line.

ASSISTANT (hermes, deepseek-v4-flash)
Good question — the brick chain as it stood at each entry moment. The chart API only serves the current snapshot, so to see the state at 09:34:29 and 10:50:47 I'll use the chart API's own brick builder (imported from app.py, same math) on the 5-min DB truncated at those exact timestamps:
Now let me also show what VIDYA vs anchor actually was at those two exact poll moments — that's what the condition compared:
2026-08-05 11:53

2026-08-05 11:53
ASSISTANT (hermes, deepseek-v4-flash)
Both orders were taken on a DESCENDING renko — the exact opposite of what you'd expect for a buy:
1. ENTRY 1 (09:34:29): last 5 brick closes 57930 → 57890, all descending. VIDYA 57930.83 vs anchor 57859.89 = above by 70.94 pts.
2. ENTRY 2 (10:50:47): last 5 brick closes 57860 → 57820, all descending. VIDYA 57860.17 vs anchor 57859.89 = above by just 0.28 pts.
Why the crossover fired while bricks were falling:
1. VIDYA is a 20-brick smoothed average — it lags. The bricks had been sliding for 5+ bricks, but the average of the last 20 was still above yesterday's fixed anchor line.
2. The anchor (LIPI) doesn't move intraday — it's frozen at yesterday's completed-day value (57859.89). So "VIDYA crosses above anchor" is really "the slow 20-brick average pokes above a fixed line" — not "renko turned up".
3. Entry 2 was the worst case: VIDYA crossed by 0.28 points — a hair — while the actual brick chain was in freefall (5 consecutive down bricks). The signal said "buy" on a knife-edge lag, the market kept falling, SL hit 20 minutes later.
So the crossover is real mechanically, but it's a lagging-average artifact: the buy fired twice into a falling renko because VIDYA takes 20 bricks to catch up with direction, and the anchor never moves. That's why both trades stopped out.

The engine supports arbitrary conditions (gt/lt/cross) with any extractable field, so this is very doable as a third condition. But first — which slope actually blocks the bad entries? You tested bricks last time; let me check both the VIDYA slope AND brick slope at the two entry moments to design the gate right:

Both checks agree — at BOTH entries, the last 5 VIDYA values were strictly descending too. So an ascending gate would have blocked both bad trades. Let me check one thing before implementing — there's an `entry_filter` field in the config that might be the cleanest place (entry-only, doesn't touch exits):

The picture is complete. `entry_filter` (line 2742) exists but only in the legacy event path — this bot uses the multi-condition path (`_check_multi_conditions` → `_enter`), which bypasses it. So I'll do three things: add a VIDYA-ascending counter, wire the filter into the multi-condition entry, and configure it.
First, the ascending-counter method (mirrors the existing `_trailing_brick_count` pattern, but counts consecutive ascending VIDYA values from the series):

Now add the `entry_filter` to the banknifty bot config. The user's rule — "only take call if VIDYA is ascending" — with threshold 1 = require VIDYA rising (count > 1 = at least 2 points ascending):
Now verify syntax and test the ascending counter against the live chart API — at the current moment (VIDYA falling) it should return a low count:

ASSISTANT (hermes, deepseek-v4-flash)
The filter correctly BLOCKS right now (VIDYA descending, count=1). Let me verify the count logic against the known entry moments — at 09:34:29 (when it wrongly entered) it should have blocked, and confirm the chart API series endpoint returns the same data the bot will use:

2026-08-05 12:02
ASSISTANT (hermes, deepseek-v4-flash)
The logic is correct — both bad entries would now BLOCK (count=1). The "09:20:05" test point wasn't a rising moment in the data available at that time (candle timestamps are start-time, so the 09:20 candle wasn't in the DB yet at 09:20:05) — a test artifact, not a logic issue. The count walks the VIDYA series tail: count=2+ means the last step is ascending.
Now restart the bot with the new code + config:

ASSISTANT (hermes, deepseek-v4-flash)
Done — bot restarted with the ascending-VIDYA gate live. Here's what changed:
1. bot.py — new `_vidya_ascending_count()`: fetches the chart API's VIDYA series (same data the conditions use, no local recomputation) and counts consecutive ascending values at the tail. Returns 1 = falling/flat, 2+ = rising.
2. bot.py — `_entry_filter_ok()` now supports the special field `vidya_ascending` (count > threshold).
3. bot.py — the entry filter is now wired into the MULTI-CONDITION entry path (it previously only ran on the legacy event path, which this bot doesn't use — that's why the gate didn't exist here).
4. symbols.yaml — banknifty config gets `entry_filter: {signal_a: vidya_ascending, condition: gt, threshold: 1}` → entry only fires when VIDYA is in ascending order.
Verified against today's data: both entries that stopped out (09:34:29 and 10:50:47) had ascending_count=1 → would have been BLOCKED. The exit logic is untouched — SL and reverse-signal exits still work exactly as before.
Note: with threshold 1, "ascending" means the last VIDYA step is up (count 2+). If you want stricter — e.g. the last 3 or 5 points must all be rising — just bump threshold to 2 or 4 in the yaml; no code change needed.
