ASSISTANT (hermes, k3)
Here's the full picture for Jul 23. I pulled the broker orderbook/tradebook via OpenAlgo, all bot logs, and the OpenAlgo API request log, and matched them order by order.
THE DISCREPANCY — 3 DIFFERENT CAUSES
1. BOT ORDERS THAT FAILED SILENTLY (bot thinks one thing, broker has nothing)
INDUSINDBK, morning of Jul 23:
- 09:42:17 BUY_PUT signal. Bot tried to exit 1080CE x700 → EXIT ORDER FAILED. Then tried to buy 990PE → "LTP fallback, placing MARKET order" → FAILED again.
- 10:10:20 BUY_CALL signal. Buy 1020CE → MARKET fallback → FAILED.
Root cause: the bot couldn't fetch the option's LTP (quotes call failed), so it fell back to placing a MARKET order. Flattrade rejects MARKET orders (we know this — LIMIT only). So both signals died. By 10:59 the quotes worked again and orders went through (1030CE @6.80).
Result: the bot marked itself FLAT and moved on, while the broker still held 1080CE x700 (bought Jul 22 @29.2). That position sat open until 11:00:24 when it was sold @1.20 — a ₹18,025 loss. The bot never knew.
2. TRADES AT THE BROKER THAT NO BOT PLACED (broker shows them, bot logs silent)
These have NO entry in any bot log AND NO OpenAlgo API placeorder alert — meaning they were placed directly at Flattrade (app/web terminal), bypassing OpenAlgo:
- 11:00:24 SELL 1080CE @1.20 MARKET (manual cleanup of the stuck position)
- 11:41–11:50 1000PE exit: SL-M rejected 11:41, two cancels, then SELL @11.05 at 11:50:24
- 13:13:30 SELL LT 3800PE @40.35 (bot bought it 11:35 @23.30 — booked ₹2,984 profit, bot didn't do it)
- 14:03:44 SELL SBIN FUT @1014.10 and 14:45:20 BUY SBIN FUT @1012.10 — no bot anywhere trades SBIN futures (sbin_renko_vidya has been dead since Jul 8, empty logs)
And these went through the OpenAlgo API but NOT from any bot — so OpenAlgo web UI or another script with the API key:
- 12:50:11 / 12:50:29 → SL on SBIN 1010PE, fired 12:51:50 @10.55
- 13:11:14 / 13:11:49 / 13:12:25 → ULTRACEMCO 12000CE exit (69.50 canceled, 63.00 rejected, 62.65 filled)
3. THE BOT THEN HIDES THE DIVERGENCE
At 13:12:25 and 13:14:27 the ULTRACEMCO and LT bots logged "Broker shows no position, clearing local state". So when the dashboard later showed FLAT, it looked like bot and broker agreed — but only because the bot erased its own record of the position someone else closed.
WHAT THE BOT ACTUALLY DID (verified vs broker, all matched):
- 10:59 BUY 1030CE @6.80, 11:10 SELL @5.45 (−945), BUY 1000PE @9.20
- 11:35 SELL LT 3850CE @17.20, BUY 3800PE @23.30
- 11:56 BUY ULTRACEMCO 12000CE @64.95
- 13:31 BUY LT 3850CE @12.95
- 14:24 BUY ULTRACEMCO 12000CE @58.95 (this was my order_now mode test)
ONE MORE LANDMINE: SBIN 1010PE — the bot bought it Jul 14 @13.85 and the bot thread EXITED 14 seconds later. It never ran again until Jul 23 14:11. So that position sat unmanaged for 9 days, no SL, no exit, until the manual SL @10.55 fired yesterday.
THE TWO REAL FIXES NEEDED:
1. Kill the MARKET-order fallback in bot.py — when LTP fetch fails it places MARKET which Flattrade always rejects. It should skip the trade and alert instead. Also the bot must NOT clear its position state when its own exit order fails — that's what created the phantom divergence at 09:42.
2. Decide the rule for manual intervention: right now any trade you place at the broker or OpenAlgo UI is invisible to the bot's state, and the bot's "clear local state" logic then covers it up. Options: have the bot log/alert loudly (Telegram) when it detects an external close instead of silently clearing, or adopt broker-position as the single source of truth each poll.
Want me to fix #1 in bot.py now (remove MARKET fallback, keep state on failed exit, Telegram alert on both)?

KEY TAKEAWAYS
1. Only 4 of 7 closed bot positions were exited BY the bot's own logic... actually just 2 (1030CE flip, 3850CE flip). The other 5 were closed manually — 3 at the Flattrade terminal, 2 through the OpenAlgo API/web UI.
2. The worst loss (−18,025 on 1080CE) was directly caused by failure mode B: the bot's 09:42 exit died on the MARKET-order fallback, the bot marked itself flat, and the position bled from ~27 to 1.20 before manual cleanup.
3. The SBIN PE was a orphan for 9 days because the bot thread died 14 seconds after entry.
4. The two manual exits you did in profit (1000PE +1,295, 3800PE +2,984) were actually good saves — the bot had no exit signal at those times.
Same recommendation stands: fix the MARKET fallback and the "clear state on failed exit" bug in bot.py — that's what turned a manageable −₹5–6K day into −₹18.4K. Want me to do that now?
