Found it. Here's the summary of what we concluded in the last conversation (July 4-5):
**GoCharting is NOT useful for our purposes — unless we write the strategy in Lipi Script.**
The key points:
1. **GoCharting has no API/export** — it's a visualization platform only. The Lipi Script runs in a browser sandbox. No programmatic data extraction possible. Canvas rendering means even headless scraping would require OCR and be extremely fragile.
2. **VIDYA formula mismatch** — Your bot uses CMO-based VIDYA (Chande's original formula), while GoCharting's built-in VIDYA uses a different variant (StdDev/SMA ratio). They produce different values on the same data. To match, you'd need to write a custom Lipi Script that replicates your exact CMO-based formula.
3. **Lipi Script can't access Renko brick data** — It runs on time-based bars (1m, 5m, D), not on Renko bricks. So you can't compute VIDYA on Renko data within Lipi Script. The workaround would be to switch the chart to Renko mode and overlay VIDYA, but the script still won't "know" it's on Renko.
4. **What we did instead** — We built everything on the VPS:
- Added a **LIPI VIDYA endpoint** to your chart API (`/api/lipi-vidya-signal/<symbol>`) using your exact CMO-based formula
- Added **forming brick** (purple/transparent) visual to the Renko chart mode (matching GoCharting's live brick display)
- Default brick_size=2, VIDYA period=20, smoothing=0.2
- The SBIN Renko-VIDYA bot uses the same formula, so chart and bot stay in sync
**Bottom line:** GoCharting is only useful if you write and run the strategy entirely within Lipi Script on their platform. For our Python bots, it provides no data advantage — Shoonya API gives us the same data directly. The only thing GoCharting had that we liked was the purple forming-brick visual, which we've now replicated on our own chart.

OK, I've read through all three recent sessions. Here's the summary of the conclusions about GoCharting:
**Session 1 (Jul 8, 4:43 PM) — "Daily VIDYA Renko Chart Bug Fix"**
- You noticed SBIN's LIPI VIDYA showing 8.20 on the chart — that was corrupt data (close=0 rows in the DB)
- We fixed the corruption and rebuilt the data
- Key discussion: The chart's `/api/daily-vidya` reads from bot DBs first (via `find_bot_db`), and corrupt bot data was showing on the chart
**Session 2 (Jul 8, 6:18 PM) — "5 Pain Points"**
- We discussed the 5 pain points and created the PROJECT_PLAN.md
- **Pain Point #4 is specifically about this**: "GoCharting Signal Hooks — Single Source of Truth"
- Bots compute VIDYA independently from the chart → divergence → losses
- The plan was: make bots call `/api/lipi-vidya-signal/` as their signal source instead of computing locally
**Session 3 (Jul 8, 10:00 PM) — "Remaining Pain Points"**
- You moved to work on Pain Point #4
- We started examining the chart API endpoint and the bot code
- Then discovered the **VIDYA period input on the chart was broken** — no event listener, so changing the value didn't recompute VIDYA at all
- Session ended with that finding
**The key conclusion across these sessions about GoCharting:**
GoCharting (your chart app) is NOT useful as a **data source** — it can't extract data programmatically. But it IS the right place to compute VIDYA because:
1. The `/api/lipi-vidya-signal/` endpoint already exists on your VPS chart app
2. Bots currently compute VIDYA locally and get **different results** than the chart (the divergence problem)
3. The plan is to make the chart API the single source of truth, so bots call it instead of computing locally
4. The purple "forming brick" visual was already added to match GoCharting's live brick display
So the conclusion is: **GoCharting the external platform is not useful unless you write strategies in Lipi Script. But your own chart app on the VPS IS useful as the single source of truth for VIDYA computation** — which is Pain Point #4, still pending.
Want to continue working on Pain Point #4 (making bots call the chart API for signals instead of computing locally)?
